My Most Treasured Item

So the Day 5 challenge from Cait at Fierce, Fit, and Fabulous is a picture of your most treasured item. For me that is my blankie that I have had for 30 years and still sleep with! I had to get a generic picture of it, because I left it at my Mom's house at Christmas :( She refuses to send it to me and I miss it terribly. I know I am 30 years old, but my blanket has comforted me since the day I was born literally. I used to have 2 blankets, a yellow one and a white one. The yellow one I took everywhere with me. To friends houses with me, to camp, on vacations, wherever I went the blanket followed.

I remember being traumatized when my Dad threw my first one away. He always told me that I was to old for a blanket. I was 8 at the time and had been to an overnight at Camp Pepperhill. Of course I brought it with me, but the next day before he took me to my Mom's house it was gone. I know I had it with me when I left camp-I was obsessive about my baba as I called it. We went swimming at one of his friends house and when I came back in after swimming it was GONE.

Now for an 8 year old this is a major traumatic experience. I remember asking him where it was and he kept saying he didn't know and that I must have lost it. He was always telling me I was to old for it and I needed to give it up. Why this bothered him so much I don't know. I do know that going back and forth between his house and my mom's was not fun, and that blanket was my only constant. He obviously took it and threw it away. I remember my Mom telling me when I got home how sorry she was and that my Dad probably threw it away. So sad.

Thank goodness I had a backup! I had a white one that I rarely used and 31 years later I still have it! I have to admit, I took it to my Mom's over Christmas and left it in the bed. I was in a rush to get back home and was loaded down with packages, but I have missed it terribly.

It might sound silly, but it has been a constant throughout my crazy life. What's your most treasured possession??? I would LOVE to hear about it!!!

Sara

Star Struck

I remember working for my first hotel and learning that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were staying there while there house was being built. I don't know why it took me so long to figure this out, but at this point in my life I had never seen, much less met, a famous person before. After working in the hotel business and living here for 5 years, I have met and seen lots of famous people. Anyway, after I realized they were staying there I couldn't WAIT to meet them. I am a little bit obsessed with Keith Urban. I love his music, his accent and think that he is extremely hot. Nuff said.

Although I have seen him, I have not had the pleasure of meeting him. I did, however, have the pleasure of meeting Nicole Kidman at the hotel. I was star struck to say the least. I remember being in the back office and my manager told me to come up front. My typical response of course was "What does he want now?". I reluctantly went up front and there she was. OMG it was Nicole Kidman. I almost died right there.

Day 5 challenge from Cait at Fierce, Fit, and Fabulous is who would you switch places with for a day?

Nicole Kidman of course! Seeing her in person was amazing. She is much more gorgeous in person than on tv and is so sweet and down to earth. She saw me a couple days later and even remembered my name. That says a lot about a person I think. She lives here in Nashville with husband Keith and her 2 precious little ones. They are treated like normal people here, everyone tries to make them feel at home rather than making them feel like celebrities.

I admire her acting talent, love her husband, and would love to switch places with her for the day. She has LOTS of money and I think it would be so much fun to see how she lives her daily lfe and what it feels like to be her.

Have a happy sunday!!!

Day 5 My favorite Memory

My favorite memories always come from one place. St Simon's Island, GA. I have gone there every year since I was 6 months old and have only missed 2 years. My parents started taking me there, then when they got divorced we started taking my Stepdad and 2 brothers there, and no my roomie and I go whenever we get the chance. I just love. I am my best person there hands down. Just being there makes me so relaxed, happy, and an overall better person. My soul is connected to the ocean and sun so much and I just love the little community there. The above picture is taken from one of the condos at the King and Prince hotel. We have always stayed there as a family and watched it grow and change over the years.

This was the original hotel and has grown to many many buildings over the years. 2 years ago my roomie and I were able to go to SSI by ourselves for 2 weeks and it was amazing. My goal is to move there one day-sooner than later. It is relaxing, inviting, and my perfect place in the world. Its my favorite memory because I am my best self there. We lay out in the sun, eat at amazing restaurants, read, swing in the swing by the ocean and just have an all around relaxing time. If you ever have a chance to visit, go! It is not commercialized and is exactly how life should be.

Relaxing on the beach

I learned to dive in this pool.

At one of my favorite restaurants Nazarros

The fam in 2005 at at Coastal Cottages

At the pier.

Best memory hands down.

Day 4 and Pink and Green Thursday on Friday

I am playing catch-up this week and wanted to participate in my favorite blog of the week Pink and Green Thursday. Here are some things I am loving this week:

My new Hot Pink Love bracelet I picked up at a music store. I adore it and it makes me
smile whenever I look at it.

Tulips are my favorite flower. These were on our coffee table for almost 2 weeka
and were just gorgeous. I miss them. Guess that means its time for more!

Pink Patent Sperry Topsiders. Saw these last year and never got around
to getting them. They are a must this year!

I am still following Cait's 30 day challenge at  Fierce, Fit and Fabulous.

Day 4 is a picture of your typical night.

My typical evening is spent at one of these 2 places:

Hotel Indigo West End

Hotel Indigo Downtown

I typically work 3 to 11 so I am usually at the Indigo Downtown or the Indigo at West End. Love them both and as many of you already know I LOVE my job so much. The best part is our Indigo Family.

My friend Nikki and I on New Year's Eve

One of my bestie's Laurie and another favorite Hugo.

I love spending time with these people almost more than anyone. I am so happy and blessed that this is a typical evening for me. Look forward to tomorrow's challenge! Have a great weekend and please follow my blog and send me a link to yours!!!

30 Day Blog Challenge Catch Up!

So my fellow blogger Cait has issued a 30 day blog challenge which you can see here: Fierce, Fit and Fabulous' 30 day blog challenge . I have decided to take on her challenge and since this is day 3 already, I will be doing a catchup blog today. This is also a challenge for me to come back here 30 days in a row! I am hoping I can pick up come followers and comments along the way! Drumroll please...

Day 1 - picture of yourself with 10 facts.

1. I LOVE my initials-SKB. I write them all the time instead of my name and I love them on anything and everything.

2. I have a blended family and I LOVE it. My Mom and Stepdad have been together for as long as I can remember. With my stepdad comes my 2 stepbrothers who I consider brothers. I LOVE our family so much,

3. I have 3 siblings my younger sister Laura and my 2 brothers Lane and Bo. We are all rarely together, but I always enjoy it when we are, it is really special to me.

4. I have lived in Nashville for the past 5 years.

5. I was born and raised in Lexington, KY and lived there until I was 26 years old.

6. I graduated from the University of Kentucky and am OBSESSED with UK Basketball and Football. I can't wait until March Madness!!!

7. Besides my family, the 2 things I miss most about Lexington are Keeneland and UK sports. Its so not the same here and missing Keeneland feels like committing a sin!

8. The first interview I got here in Nashville was at the Hampton Green Hills. It was my first hotel job and I have loved hotels every since. They say it gets in your blood and it has taken over mine.

9. My 3 favorite things of all time are reading, laying by the pool, or going to the beach.

10. One of these days I hope to move to St. Simons Island Georgia. I am just an all around better person when I am there and so so so happy.

Day 2-Picture of You and the Person you have been closest with the longest

The person I am closest to in the entire world is my bestest friend and roomate Kathleen Erlin Diener, or Kat as she likes to be called. I have only known her since moving to Nashville 5 years ago but she is super special to me. I moved here in June and she was here in October. The circumstances in which we met were not ideal, but we both were ready for new beginnings in our lives. It helped that we were both starting over and both needed a roomate. Needless to say, we became fast friends and remain closer than ever. Its funny because in the past people have gotten really jealous of our relationship which is PATHETIC to me. Whatever happened to being happy for people? We are so alike, but in a good way. We enjoy doing all of the same things, have the same interests, are both in the hotel industry, I could go on and on. Anyway, I adore her and cherish our friendship. There are so many hard times I couldn't have made it through without her. I am the amazing strong person that I am today because of her.

Day 3-5 Things you can't live without

Definitely my number 1. Love it love it love it. I can keep up with everyone
in one place. I check it first thing every morning.

My Blackberry. I am with Verizon so I am thinking of upgrading to an IPhone in October
but I don't know. I am dedicated to my Blackberry and cannot live without it.
My green Dell Laptop. I wanted Pink, but they were out, so naturally I picked the green one.
Don't know how I ever lived without a laptop.

My Pink and Green Tommy Hilfiger Bedding. I LOVE it and my bed. Just seeing
this every morning makes me smile. It is so warm and comfy and I swear I have
the best bed in the world. (The pic above is not my room)

My bestest friend and roomate Kat. She makes me smile and always knows just
what to say. I could not live without her!!!

So that's it! I am challenging myself to keep up with this! Take the challenge to and let me know when you start. I would LOVE to learn about all of you!

xoxo,
Sara

Luxurious Living

This week I have had the pleasure of checking in 2 Black Amex Cards. Not people. Cards. I love these Cards and get such a thrill just holding them in my hand-if only for a moment. I always look at the people in awe and think wow. The power of that card. Of course being my nosy self, if its not a celebrity or someone that I recognize I immediately google them! One this week was a celebrity, but the other one appeared to be just an ordinary person-or he used a fake name! At any rate-I WAS SO JEALOUS!!!

I was looking over the "Requirements for Membership" one of which is that you have to spend $250,000 a year. The guy writing the article said this sounds hard to do. Am I in the minority here when I say I could spend that money amount with no help whatsoever? Of course I don't have anywhere near the money to ever ever ever be able to do that, but if I had the money I could probably spend that in a few days. What about you guys?

The most interesting aspect is that it creates a "brand buzz" around your name. Hello! I must not be the only person googling the name on the card when I get one. Very interesting stuff!

I most likely will never be able to obtain one of these coveted cards, however, it is fun to check people in when they have one!

Luxuries in my life change from time to time, obviously based on income. In the past year it seems I have learned to appreciate the little things in life more than ever. Some luxuries in my life include:

St. Simons Island, Georgia-Have been every year but 2 since I was 6 months old. Try to go every year.

My Pink Coach Purse or any coach bag. I have been rocking the one above
for the past year. I know I need a new one, but funds are tight and this is my favorite!

Books are such a luxury to me. Can't live without them and I LOVE bookstores and the library.
The one above is definitely a fav!
I love coming home and finding them in the mail. I get so excited to open them up!

Seven Jeans are my favorite. Hands Down. Love them and must have them!!!

So thats just a few of mine. I want to hear yours! And please follow me. I LOVE seeing new followers!

Sara
