Its that time of year again and I must say I LOVE decorating our home. It has become a tradition when we decorate the tree to have friends come over and help us and this year was no exception. The pictures so do not do our tree justice, but I am still going to share it with you all. Knowing me of course, the tree is so not typical! It is filled with pinks, purples, green, turqouise, all the bright colors that I love!
Growing up I always had a real tree, but I have to admit I do keep it up for quite a while. I just love looking at it and really enjoying laying on the couch and reading by it or even enjoy it while I watch TV and work. We bought it about 5 years ago, it is pre-lite and still looks really good. Although I did find a stop that needs some more lights, so thats first on the list for next year. I have NOT had good luck with lights this year, but more on that in a minute!
Another reason I love decorating the tree is pulling all the ornaments out of the boxes every year as we hang them on the tree. A lot of my ornaments are from when I was growing up and even more we have collected together over the past few years. Each one has a memory and lots have stories behind them. It brings so much joy to me just unwrapping each one. Does anyone else feel that way?
Some of my favorites are:
One of my Strawberry Shortcake ornaments from my little sis a few years ago.As I have said before I am the BIGGEST kid and so nostalgic! |
My Love a Lot Care Bear, again from my sis. |
Kind of hard to see, but its a sandollar from one of my best friend's hometowns, Aiken, SC. Its haindpainted and just gorgeous. |
Kat and I had this made at a Christmas market one of our first Christmases together. Kind of hard to see but our names are both handpainted on as well. |
Another Strawberry Shortcake from my Sis. She used to be so sweet-not sure what happened. Kidding. |
Our "word" ornaments. Love them because they are glittery and colorful. |
One of my most beautiful ornaments, came from the first hotel I opened. The picture does not do it justice. |
Cabbage Patch from when I was about 3 years old. I remember we got it when we were at my grandma's house visiting. Don't have a lot of fond memories of her so this one is really special. |
I had to represent! Even though football is not our strong suit, I had to have my WILDCATS somewhere on the tree!!!
I also LOVE doing our outside decorations too. I am proud to say I did them all by myself this year and I really do love them. They look the prettiest when you look across the lake from the other side at our house. Don't have that picture yet, but I will share it with you after I take them. These pictures do not do these lights justice, but you get the idea.
Kind of hard to see but you get the picture! Does not do the lights justice, but I love them. Will have to take one from across the lake for sure!
I also LOVE my table as well as our wreath on the front door!
Really Love this wreath, but once again the picture just doesn't do it justice! |
So those are our Christmas decorations! I absolutely love decorating, which is funny because I never really got into that until I had my own home. Hope you all enjoyed them!!!
Happy Sunday!!!
XoXo,
Sara
