Always There

So it's day 9 of Cait's challenge at  Fierce, Fit, and Fabulous . Day 9 is a picture of a person who has always been there for you no matter what. When I think about this a lot of people come to mind, but the one person who has been there through thick and thin and has managed to pick me up when I didn't think anyone could is definitely my Mom.

Mom, My Sister Laura, My Cousin Kate, and Me.
She is an amazing woman. She is an FANTASTIC realtor in Lexington and can sell houses like no other. I am so proud of her, she has been in the business for 31 years and works so hard 24-7 and still finds time to cook amazing meals and take care of our family. She has been a single Mom since the time that I was 8 years old and was better than having 2 parents. We never went without anything. I always had the newest clothes, anything and everything I needed, went to the best schools and didn't appreciate this at the time. I didn't understand why she was always at work and never home. I also know that she worked all the time and was always on the phone, when everyone's elses parents were different. Now I look back and realize what a blessing this job was! She kept us in the lifestyle that we were accustomed too even when she went without.

Today she is still wonder woman and I idolize her in every way. She has a heart of gold, the most AMAZING cook in the world (I am not just saying that everyone says so) and is married to a wonderful man that my sister and I just love. They have been together for the almost 20 years (I think) and finally got married 4 or 5 years ago. He has always been a blessing and I am so glad the he is around to make her happy and they can grow old together. With him came 2 stepbrothers that I love more than anything.

As hard as Mom works she is always there for me. I have lived here in Nashville for the past 5 years and I do miss her so much. I was her real estate assistant for a long time and just loved working for her. We have had more fights over the years than she and my sister have had, but I like to think it is because we are so much alike. My sister is the perfect kid and I'm more well...trouble! As I look back over the years our relationship could have been better but it all lead to where we are today, and I love her more than anyone and really admire her.

Before I moved here to Nashville I got involved with the wrong kind of people and got into a lot of trouble. I confessed to my Mom that I couldn't live this way anymore. She talked to my therapist and got me into a wonderful program here. I had to give up a lot and struggle for a while, but it was all worth it and I wouldn't take any of it back. Other people gave up on me, but she didn't and never has. I love her more than words can express and feel blessed beyond words. She really is an angel who is ALWAYS there for me.
